Let’s Turn Lemons into Lemonade

We’ve all heard of the famous proverb, “When life gives you lemons, make a lemonade”. Isn’t it vital to absorb the essence of this phrase, now more than ever.

Life is tough all around us – for all of us. Job security, work-life balance, work overload, long hours, unfulfilled aspirations, increasing costs, dwindling meaningful relationships and so many other issues are taking a toll on each and every one we know.

Stress is on an ever-increasing rise and the rates of road-rage accidents, suicides, divorces are hitting the roof. Well, people are generally unhappy all around. Our ability to endure difficult situations has basically gone kaput. In short, all of us are being given basket full of lemons each and every day and we don’t know how to deal with it.

Well the good news is, this is what we think! The fact is that, we are all just too busy focusing on the negatives that we have forgotten to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. We are so focused on counting the potholes to work each day that we ignore the pitter-patter of rain. We are so busy making vacation plans and saving for it, that we forget to enjoy the beauty of each day.

Surely challenges are on a rise, but we forget how strong a human mind really is. We are a hardy, gritty, resilient race and have survived the battle of the fittest. Calming and controlling our minds is the key here – go on a run, do yoga, practice mindfulness, mediate, talk, laugh, relax!

Let’s not fuss over the lemons being thrown at us. Everyone, after all is dealing with their own lemons. Let us start focusing on how we can turn them into lemonade and enjoy it. Make up your mind today about this, for it is important that from tomorrow you wake up on the right side of the bed.

“Life handed him a lemon, As Life sometimes will do.

His friends looked on in pity, Assuming he was through.

They came upon him later, Reclining in the shade.

In calm contentment, drinking A glass of lemonade.”
